This trip is one of my favorites and always will be! It was so much fun and I got to see many wonderful places with my family. This ticked a few countries off my “see all the countries of the world” list.
We left out of Miami, which is somewhere I would like to go back to someday to see more of the city. I guess I have a thing for palm trees. 🙂
We saw a bit of the ship, and there was a parade to kick off the voyage.
We spent the day cruising, so we took the time to explore the ship and soak up some sun. For some reason we don’t have any pictures of this day, except for this towel swan. A neat touch about the staff was that there was a cool towel animal waiting for us every day. They were also so polite at all times and made our meals very enjoyable.
Our first port was Labadee, Haiti, where Royal Caribbean has a private area on the island. We swam at a beach, visited the rocks that sound like dragon’s breath at Dragon’s Breath Point, shopped for souvenirs, and went on a snorkel tour. The water was quite shallow and I wasn’t a fan of being so close to all the coral, my brother even got bumped by some fire coral on his wrist. It was still really pretty here though.
The second stop was Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where we climbed the Dunn’s River Falls. Dad and I played a lot of ping pong (many balls ended up in the ocean – oops) and went swimming in the circular current pool.
The third port was George Town, Cayman Islands, where we went on another snorkel tour. This one was so much better, as the water was deeper, so we could appreciate the reef and sea creatures from afar. It was a beautiful adventure.
Our last stop was Cozumel, Mexico. Dad and I went to Playa Mia while Mom and Justin toured Tulum. The beach wasn’t that nice… And not going to Tulum is still one of my biggest regrets – stupid young Rayna who wasn’t interested in history… *sigh* Justin and I both bought sombreros, which Dad modelled for us.
Our last day was cruising back to Miami. Mom and I went rock climbing and we went on the FlowRider. We had a really nice last dinner with Milton, Elmer, and Djovi.
We had plane delays at both airports and ended up playing many, many card games. But we eventually made it home with our many memories. 🙂
